Dedication Prayer
We should set apart our bodies as vessels of honor for the Lord.
Dedication Ceremony
May 22, 1995
Rev. Robert L. Carpenter
This is the dedication prayer for the motor vessel “Cedar Island,” a ferry boat operated in Pamlico Sound, NC.
Many drivers have a prayer like this used to set apart their trucks for their service to the Lord.
This prayer should also be applied spiritually to each of our lives.
This idea is in Holy Scripture; 1 Thessalonians 4:4 and 2 Timothy 2:20,21. The Lord calls us to be set apart and sanctified for His service.
O, God of all creation, grant thy blessing upon this vessel, that thy divine providence will protect her and keep her safe from harm this ship, her crew, and her passengers.
Let now one of your guardian angels be the constant companion of this ship and her cargo.
May no storm come so quickly that her safety will ever be in doubt, may no darkness ever confound her watch, and may the calmness of a morning and the beauty of a sunset always remind us of your ever watchful eye.
In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit we now dedicate this vessel to the service of mankind and for the good of the people of this great state.
Amen
